Mérida is north of the South American Andes, and borders the states of Trujillo, Zulia, Barinas and
Tachira. If you are looking for a winter destination, this is the place to go. The only perennial snows of the Bolivar Peak are found
here, as well as the world's longest and highest cable car, moors all around it, frailejon flowers more than two meters
high, and the biggest number of inns in the national territory.
